There are so many areas in society where this pattern emerges. The National Science Foundation, for instance, tends to fund research that adheres to a specific narrative. If you stray from that narrative, you might find yourself on the outside looking in, just like that one archaeologist who had some interesting insights about the Great Pyramids of Giza but ended up getting disowned. It’s a tough spot to be in.

It’s frustrating to see these crusty old farts in academia dismiss fresh ideas simply because they don’t conform to traditional beliefs.
